| The purpose of this study is to describe the effects of temporomandibular joint balancing therapy on a patient with a spinal accessory neuropathy. A patient reported sternocleidomastoid muscle and trapezius muscle weakness after self-massage. The patient was instructed to wear the Accurate Balancing Appliance (ABA) for at least 8 hours per day and maintain an upright posture. The patient received cervical spine manipulation on day 2, 4, and 6. The patient's progress was tracked based on the angle at which the head turned to the right from the midline when she lifted her head while lying down, as well as the muscle strength and pain in the right trapezius muscle. The patient recovered spontaneously after 7 days. The ABA and cervical spine manipulation assisted the patient in reducing fatigue and discomfort during daily activities. | Objectives: This study was performed to review the research trends in the treatment of anorexia nervosa(AN) in Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM). Methods: Studies were searched through The China National Knowledge Infrastructure(CNKI) database. The search term for the subject were ‘Eating Disorder’, and ‘Anorexia Nervosa’. Clinical research that conducted TCM treatment for AN patients were included. Studies were analyze according to study design, therapy method, diagnostic criteria, population and intervention. Results: 23 articles were selected. According to study design, studies were classified into two randomized controlled trial(RCT), three single group before-and-after studies, and 18 case reports. According to therapy method, they included 19 herbal medicine studies, two acupuncture treatment studies, and two complex treatment studies. The most common pattern identification was ‘liver depression with spleen deficiency’(肝鬱脾虛), and the most used herb was ‘Root of Bupleurum falcatum’(柴胡). Most of the studies showed effective results in increasing appetite and weight. Conclusions: The results of our study demonstrate that TCM treatments for AN has been effective in alleviating chief symptoms. However, in terms of evidence-based medicine, lack of RCT on TCM treatments for AN and absence of objective diagnostic criteria in case reports are limitations. Therefore well-designed further clinical studies should be performed based on the results of this study are recommended. Key Words: Eating Disorder, Anorexia Nervosa, Traditional Chinese Medicine. |

| his case is intended to present the effectiveness of TMJ balance therapy, which normalizes the yin-yang balance of the cranial nervous system, including the meridian system. Temporomandibular joint balance therapy was performed on growing children with occlusal abnormalities, and clinical results were measured through specific observation of height and weight. The patient showed improvement in deep bite and satisfactory increase in growth after treatment. From these observations, it can be inferred that temporomandibular joint balance therapy has a positive effect not only on the brain nervous system but also on the action of pituitary hormones. For a more accurate evaluation, clinical and biological research on temporomandibular joint balance therapy (TBT) is needed. | Abstract Objectives : The purpose of this study is to report the effect of Korean medical treatment with TBT(Temporomandibular Joint Balancing Therapy) on Tic disorder patient who often glancing up when feels nerves, frightened or tired. Methods : In this study, Tic disorder patient was treated to △△ Korean medicine Hospital from June 12nd, 2022 to July 26th, 2023 by outpatient way. During the clinic period, the patient was treated by Korean medical treatment(acupuncture, cupping, herb medicine), especially using TBT. YGTSS(Yale Global Tic Severity Scale), NDI(Neck Disability Index) and VAS were used for measuring the Tic disorder and Neck pain. Results : After treatment for 46days, the YGTSS showed a decrease from 17 to 3, The VAS associated with Tic disorder also decreased from 6 to 1 and NDI associated with Neck Pain decreased from 7 to 4. Conclusions : These results showed that Korean medical treatment especially using TBT may have an effect on reducing symptoms of Tic disorder and Neck pain. But the further researches are needed.
