| Objectives : The purpose of this study is to report the effect of combined Korean medical treatments for low back pain in a patient with percutaneous vertebroplasty (PVP) caused by osteoporosis compression fracture. Methods : A 71-year-old female patient was treated with Korean medical treatments including acupuncture, moxibustion, cupping treatment, herbal medicine from September 4th 2023 to September 27th 2023. Changes of the symptoms were evaluated by NRS, ODI, EQ-5D-5L. Results : After treatments, the patient’s NRS, ODI, and EQ-5D-5L were improved. NRS of low back pain decreased from 5 to 2. ODI score decreased from 12 to 6. EQ-5D-5L score decreased from 13 to 8. Conclusions : The results show that combined Korean medical treatments could be an effective way to alleviate low back pain by osteoporosis compression fracture with PVP. | Objectives: The purpose of this study is to investigate studies of ultrasound-guided acupotomy for carpal tunnel syndrome(CTS) to suggest a better research method. Methods : We used key words such as ????Ultrasound????, ????Carpal tunnel syndrome????, ????Acupotomy???? to retrieve clinical studies about ultrasound-guided acupotomy for CTS from 10 different web databases published until 22, October, 2023. All papers were analyzed by treatment, outcome, main results and charateristic of study. Results: 6 Randomized controlled trials and 3 case reports and were selected in this study. 9 studies were evaluated by published year, sample size, course of disease, treatment frequency, evaluation index, adverse effects and therapeutic effects. Conclusions: Based on the analysis, this review has evidence of ultrasound-guided acupotomy for CTS. | Objective : The purpose of this study is to report a case of improvement in hip pain and gait disturbance after bipolar hemiarthroplasty for intertrochanteric femur fracture treated with Integrative Korean Medicine treatment. Methods : One patient was treated using acupuncture, herbal medication and other Integrative Korean Medicine treatment including moxibustion, cupping therapy, physical rehabilitation for 32days. And the effects of these Integrative Korean Medicine treatment were measured with numeric rating scale(NRS) and active-range of motion(A-ROM), passive-range of motion(P-ROM). Results : After Integrative Korean Medicine treatment, NRS of femur pain was decreased from 5 to 1 and each of A-ROM and P-ROM was increased from 30° to 80° and from 70° to 80°. Conclusion : This case is useful for describing a case of a patient after bipolar hemiarthroplasty for intertrochanteric fracture of the femur that was improved by Integrative Korean Medicine treatment. | Objectives : This study was conducted to show the clinical effectiveness of Korean medicine treatment including acupotomy on the patients having lumbar spinal stenosis. Methods : Three patients with lumbar spinal stenosis were treated with Korean medicine treatment including acupotomy. Visual analogue scale(VAS) and a few physical examinations(straight leg raise test, manual muscle test, etc) were used to assess the effect. Results : The patients' VAS and a few physical examinations of the lumbar pain improved remarkably. In Case 1, VAS decreased from 6 at admission to 2.1 at discharge, from 6 to 2.7 in Case 2, and from 7 to 2.8 in Case 3. Additionally, in Case 3, it was confirmed that hypoesthesia in the lower extremities improved. Conclusions : This study shows that Korean medicine treatment including acupotomy had an analgesic effect for patients having lumbar pain caused by lumbar spinal stenosis.
