| Objectives : The purpose of this study is to show the effect of combined Korean medicine treatment including acupotomy for a patient with medial buttock pain associated with sacroiliac joint syndrome. Methods : A 63-year old female inpatient was treated with acupotomy, acupuncture for 3 days and herbal medicine for 4 days. Acupotomy was applied to the Pangguangshu (BL28), targeting the ligaments and muscles of the sacroiliac joint. Outcome measures included the numeric rating scale (NRS), Roland-Morris disability questionnaire (RMDQ), Oswestry disability index (ODI) and EuroQol-5 dimension (EQ-5D). Results : After Korean medicine treatments, NRS, RMDQ, ODI and EQ-5D were improved. The scores of NRS decreased from 5 to 0, RMDQ decreased from 11 to 1, ODI decreased from 35.55% to 0%, EQ-5D index increased from 0.653 to 0.854 and EQ-5D VAS increased 40 to 70. Conclusions : The result of this study suggests that combined Korean medicine treatment including acumpotomy can be an alternative conservative treatment for medial buttock pain associated with sacroiliac joint syndrome. | Objective The purpose of this research is to investigate the clinical effect of complex traditional Korean medicine therapy on a humeral shaft fracture patient who got plate fixation surgery and suffered shoulder pain and radial nerve palsy aggravated after traffic accident. Method Outpatient treatment was performed on a 43-year-old humeral shaft fracture patient who visited Dongseo Korean Medical Hospital. The patient suffered pain, restriction on the range of motion in left shoulder, and radial nerve palsy after humerus plate fixation. The results were evaluated with numerical rating scale(NRS), the range of motion(ROM) for shoulder symptom, and subjective statement for radial nerve palsy. Results After treatment, it was shown that the NRS of shoulder pain decreased, the ROM of shoulder increased and the subjective statement of radial nerve palsy was improved. Conclusion It can be effective to apply complex traditional Korean medicine therapy to improve the shoulder pain and radial nerve palsy after humeral shaft fracture surgery. | Objectives : The aim of this study is to report the effect of Korean Medical complex therapy for a patient with right shoulder pain after left thalamus infarction. Methods : The inpatient was treated with complex traditional Korean Medical care including acupuncture treatment using pulsed electromagnetic fields (PEMF) and electroacupuncture treatment. Acupuncture treatment using PEMF was done on right shoulder for post stroke shouler pain, from 27th January, 2021 to 4th February, 2021. Electroacupuncture treatment was performed along right limbs for right side weakness, from 9th December, 2021 to 4th February, 2021. Patient’s symptom was evaluated by Visual Analogue Scale (NRS), Shoulder Pain and Disability Index (SPADI), Modified Barthel Index (MBI), and Range Of Motion (ROM). Results : After treatments, patient’s NRS, SPADI, MBI, and ROM were improved. Conclusions : The results show that combined Korean Medical treatments including acupuncture treatment using PEMF and electroacupuncture treatment could be an effective way to relieve shoulder pain following left thalamus infarction. | Objectives The purpose of this review is to report the improvement of acute temporomandibular joint disorder patients who were treated by temporomandibular joint Motion Style Acupuncture Treatment(MSAT). Methods The clinical study was done on 3 cases of patients with temporomandibular joint disorder caused by traffic accidents treated by MSAT. To evaluate the effects of treatment, Numeral Rating Scale(NRS) score, Range of Motion(ROM) between the maxilla and mandible with jaws fully opened, EuroQol 5-Dimension (EQ-5D-5L) score, Patient Global Impression of Change(PGIC) and Adverse Events(AE) were used. Results After receiving 3 days of temporomandibular joint MSAT, the patients showed a significant decrease in NRS score and increase in the ROM, EQ-5D-5L score. Conclusions This study showed that the temporomandibular joint MSAT might be effective to the patients with acute temporomandibular joint disorder caused by traffic accidents.
