| Objectives : The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of integrative Korean medicine treatment for a patient complaining left hand phalanges weakness after anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF). Methods : A 55-year-old male inpatient was treated with acupuncture, electroacupuncture, pharmacopuncture, herbal medicine and neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES). The alleviation of symptoms were assessed using grasp strength, range of motion of phalanges, DASH score (Disabilities of arm, shoulder and hand) and EQ-5D & VAS. The patient was treated and observed from March 14th to March 18th, 2023. Results : After the treatment, the symptoms showed mild improvement, showing increase of grasp strength and range of motion, and decrease of DASH score. Conclusions : The results suggest that combined Korean medicine treatment can be a possible option for remaining weakness of left hand phalanges after ACDF. | Objectives : This study aims to report the effect and safety of multidisciplinary treatment focused on Korean Medicine (KM) for a patient with opioid analgesic abuse disorders. Methods : A 36-year-old male inpatient received treatment and was observed from October 6 to October 15, 2022. The KM treatment included herbal medicine, acupuncture, electroacupuncture, and moxibustion. We assessed pain using the numeric rating scale (NRS), the amount of opioid consumption, and the patient's general condition using the insomnia severity index (ISI-K), patient health questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9), beck anxiety inventory (BAI), fatigue severity scale (FSS), and heart rate variability (HRV). Adverse events during the treatment was assessed for the safety evaluation. Department of neuropsychiatry, department of anesthesiology and pain medicine, nutrient support team (NST) shared the patient status. Results : After the treatment, NRS (average NRS from 9 to 7) and opioid consumption (daily consumption from 6~8 tablets to 4~5 tablets) were decreased and patient's overall condition related to opioid analgesic abuse improved (patient health questionaire score from 17 to 14, beck anxiety index from 42 to 29). Additionally, the multidisciplinary approach during the admission to a KM Hospital received satisfactory feedback from the patient. Conclusions : The results suggest that combined KM treatment may be a viable option for opioid analgesic abuse disorders. Further studies are warranted, particularly with long-term interventions. | Objectives : The purpose of this study is to report the effect of combined Korean medicine treatment for a patient with chest pain and dyspnea caused by sternal fracture accompanied by lung contusion and atelectas is after traffic accident. Methods : From December 5th 2022 to January 2th 2023, the patient diagnosed with sternal fracture was treated with complex korean medical treatment including acupuncture, pharmaco acupuncture and herbal medicine. Numeric Rating Scale(NRS), European Quality of Life 5 Dimension(EQ-5D) and Modified Medical Research Council Scale(mMRC) for dyspnea were used to measure the outcome. Results : After 29 days of admission treatment, NRS was decreased from 7 to 3, EQ-5D was increased from 0.658 to 0.853, and mMRC scale was also decreased from 2 to 0. Conclusions : The results of this study suggest that combined Korean medicine has a effect on reliving the symptoms of patient with sternal fracture accompanied by lung contusion and atelectasis. | Adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS) is one of the most common spinal deformities. This case report discusses a patient with AIS who underwent treatment using Chuna manual therapy, specifically focusing on the flexion-distraction technique and muscle energy technique (MET). The total number of treatment sessions is 11. Improvement was evaluated using the numerical rating scale (NRS) for foot pain, Cobb's angle, and correctability. Following treatment, the NRS decreased by more than 80%, Cobb's angle reduced from 13.20° to 2.54°, and correctability was 80.75%. The study suggests the clinical efficacy of the flexion-distraction technique and MET for the treatment of AIS.
