Objectives : The publication of systematic reviews (SRs) has increased significantly over the years, and systematic reviews are considered to have the strongest evidence as they are at the top of the hierarchy of evidence pyramid. In this study, a thorough assessment of all SRs published in Journal of Society of Preventive Korean Medicine (JSPKM) was performed to evaluate their reporting quality and methodological quality to better improve the quality of SRs in JSPKM. Methods : JSPKM website was searched to include all SRs published in JSPKM from 1997 to 2018. Two independent researchers assessed the SRs using A MeaSurement Tool to Assess systematic Reviews (AMSTAR, formerly known as Assessment of Multiple Systematic Reviews) tool checklist for methodological quality assessment, and Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guideline checklist for reporting quality assessment. Results : Out of 618 published articles published in JSPKM from 1997 to 2018, only 3 SRs were identified as SRs. For AMSTAR methodological quality scoring, the average score of 3 SRs was 3.0 out of 11 which is low quality level. For PRISMA reporting quality items, the 3 SRs reported 17.3 items on average out of 27 items. The 3 identified SRs did not provide information on protocol or registration which is included in both AMSTAR assessment tool and PRISMA guideline. Conclusions : Improvements on reporting quality and methodological quality of SRs using relevant tools or guidelines are needed to assure the quality of SRs published in JSPKM so that their conclusions will be more transparent and reliable for decision-making in healthcare and the best clinical practice. |
Objectives : In this study, We overviewed study trend on ‘Mibyung’ by analyzing articles published in Korea from 1997 to 2019. Methods : We collected research articles on ‘Mibyung’ from 7 Korean research databases using the keyword ‘미병’ and ‘아건강’. Then we analyzed them by publish year, journal, and research subjects. Research subjects were categorized into ‘diagnosis’, ‘relationship with other factors’, ‘trend’, ‘concept’, ‘application development’, ‘policy research’, ‘prevalence and recognition’, ‘clinical report’ or ‘animal study’. Results & Conclusions : The largest number of related articles was published in 2017(12 articles, 26.7%). ‘Journal of Society of Preventive Korean Medicine’ was the journal with the most published articles(16 articles, 35.6%). Most of the research subjects were about diagnosis(11 articles, 24.4%) and analysis on relationship with other factors(10 articles, 22.2%). Little were published on policy(4 articles, 8.9%) and clinical study(1 article, 2.2%). More research on policy and clinical trials should be implemented for future mibyung study. |
Objectives : The aim of this study was to examine the reference value of biomarker serum amyloid p (SAP) to diagnose blood stasis objectively. Methods : Pubmed-Medline, Cochrane library, EMBASE were searched using the key words ‘SAP’ and ‘serum amyloid p’ in June 2018. Original articles of human adults that published in English, studies that recruited from the clinical research settings or well defined population based cohorts were only included. Results : A total of 12 studies were selected to extract the reference value of SAP. It was between 8.5 ng/mL (0.0085 mg/L) to 57.5 mg/L. Although the disease varied, most of them showed elevated SAP levels in the disease group (1.1-1.5 times). Conclusions : This study is meaningful in that it summarizes the results of previous researches of SAP, which has the potential to be diagnostic index of blood stasis. |
Objective : This study is aimed to application possibility and status of pattern identification in middle and high school students. Method : This study was cross-sectional study. We recruited 277 students through school doctor program of Seongnam city in 2017. Male students are 66 in middle school, 32 in high school. Female students are 117 in middle school, 62 in high school. For pattern identification, we used the tool of Qui Xui Shui pattern identification in students. Students fill questionnaires in inquiry of pattern identification and Korean medicine doctor diagnosis inspection and palpation of students. Results : Among 277 students, no pattern identification were 114(41.2%). It appeared in the order of phlegm, blood deficinecy, qi deficiency, qi stagnation and qi reversal. Qi deficiency, qi stagnation, qi reversal, blood deficiency and phlegm pattern are statistically significant by gender except blood stagnation. of 277 students, 105 (37.9%) had one more pattern identification. Conclusions : This study showed possibility of Qui Xui Shui pattern for student health management. In the future, large scale follow up study will be needed to clarify the relationship of pattern identification and student’s health. |
