The publication of DongUiBoGam was a state-initiated project, which the state attached great importance to and oversaw the steps in its compilation, preservation and management. This fact was highly credited towards its recognition as a Memory of the World.

DongUiBoGam is still referenced to this current day in traditional Korean medicine. Many current researches in various fields such as diagnosing and medicinal ingredients have also stemmed from DongUiBoGam.

Through DongUiBoGam, we can make deductions on the life, culture and ideas surrounding the human body and health held by the East Asians in the middle ages at the turn of the 17th century.

DongUiBoGam amalgamates most of the medical texts that were referred to in the Joseon Dynasty up to the 16th century. All the medical theories and clinical knowledgesince the foundation of traditional Korean medicine up to that time are systematically in DongUiBoGam.
